Reports to: Supervisor, Case Management Team
Our client, is an international health management company that assists
clients to successfully navigate an increasingly complex global health care
system with ease and economy. They seamlessly integrate services among hospitals
and physicians while actively advocating for patients.
Their medical case management, proprietary provider network and customized
services are interwoven to provide the best possible medical care while reducing
and managing risk and costs.
Main Function: To ensure timely and efficient case management processes by
assisting Case Managers with clerical/support activities related to their
assigned cases, and directly handling all cases where ongoing medical management
is not required: ie - simple cases involving follow-up appointments, single
tests such as MRIs etc. overnight in the office. It is also the task of this
position to take calls regarding Travel Insurance claims and handling them
according to the policy and protocols that the client has outlined.
Key Role Responsibilities/Activities/Deliverables:
Screens (as transferred from Intake), and potentially handles all easy
calls, non medical requests such as benefit clarifications, extended length of
stay information, updates on procedures etc.
Assigns cases to appropriate case manager, as applicable.
Directly manages all non-complex cases and documents appropriately in system.
Handles (opens and closes) all Service Only Self Pay and Claim cases.
As abeyanced (requested) from Case Managers, obtains and enters med notes/UR
reports from providers, solicits and /or sends insurance/other information
from/to clients or providers.
Does provider searches as required.
Does research on drugs, procedures, insurance issues etc. as required.
Identifies cases ready for closure and completes all Case Closing procedures.
Primary responsibility for preliminary checks of Month End (and interim)
Reports, (in conjunction with Intake).
Provides back up for the Nurse-on-Call with regards to any Air Ambulances that
occur after-hours.
Specific duties that may be required as per Team and Client assignment: direct
phone line responsibility, Managed Care Checks and patient letters, etc.
Required Experience/Competencies/Education:
Fluent in both spoken and written communication in English/French is
mandatory.
This position requires a basic understanding of and experience with clinical
conditions, medical terminology, and healthcare systems issues and requirements.
You must communicate professionally with patients, clients (insurance
companies) and health providers (hospitals/clinics etc.).
Excellent working knowledge of computer programs/office equipment is essential
as report production, faxing, scanning, photo-copying and e-mailing of
confidential documentation is required.
You require a strong commitment to patient empathy, strong decision
making/analytical abilities, excellent organizational capability, and exemplary
telephone customer service and accurate data entry skills.
You must strictly adhere to confidentiality principles and requirements, and
be able to professionally and effectively work with all members of the Case
Management Team in a high volume, fast paced environment.
Highly Desired Experience/Competencies/Education:
1-2 years experience in customer service and/or the Insurance Industry
would be ideal
