Our client, a leading specialty chemical and related products distribution Company in North America is looking for a Bilingual Quality, Health and Safety Coordinator to maintain and develop our client’s ISO infrastructure, as well as it’s Health and Safety Program. This position covers operations in Brampton, Montreal and Vancouver. We are seeking a technically savvy, dynamic, polished, hard working person for this rewarding position.

Quality 

  • As the ISO 9001 representative, the successful candidate will develop, revise and translate into French the Quality policies and procedures to ensure that the company maintains its ISO certification, and train staff on policies and procedures.   

  • Coordinate external audits (ISO and customer) and manage the process during the audits at all locations.  Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure compliance. 

  • Manages NCR’s (Non-Conforming Report) and CPA’s (Corrective / Preventive Action).  Responsible for ensuring the appropriate personnel are assigned and that actions are appropriate.  Also must ensure that they are closed within a reasonable time frame. 

Health and Safety 

  • Support Management by providing guidance, direction and interpretation of quality standards and systems, Health and Safety Laws and regulations.  

  • Develop and implement annual health and safety plans to address incidents, promote safety, and improve health and safety at all facilities.  Conduct effectiveness reviews of program.  

  • Participate in the Health and Safety Committees and Emergency Response Teams.  Ensure committees are established and trained.   

  • Assist Managers with incident investigations and root cause analysis 

  • Provide statistical data to Senior Management on a monthly basis relevant to NCR’s, CPA’s, incidents, lost-time injuries, and lost days.  Track related costs and report to Senior Management.  Track progress compared to previous year. 

  • Update and continuously improve Emergency Response Contingency Plans for our facilities and transportation emergency requirements to address foreseeable incidents. 

  • Working with Operations, ensure that all outside contactors are trained on the company’s contractor orientation program prior to the start of the project.  Monitor contractors work while on premise. 

  • Design and deliver new employee health and safety orientation program. 

  • Focus on continuous improvement initiatives, keep abreast of changes in legislation relative to health, safety and the environment and participate in training and development programs as agreed upon. 

Qualifications: 

  • Must be bilingual in English and French, and display excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • 5+ years related experience.

  • Degree/Diploma in Health and Safety and or Quality Assurance required.

  • Must be willing to travel within Canada, several times each month, and on occasion without prior notice.

  • Must be able to work successfully in a fast paced, changing environment with little direct supervision.
