Our client, a global leader in the building materials sector, is currently seeking to immediately fill a Bilingual Credit Specialist position. This is a great opportunity for an experienced accounts receivable professional to join a dynamic and growing multinational company in a diverse and stimulating position. 

The Bilingual Credit Specialist acts as the link between the sales departments and the clients; performing reviews of customer accounts to ensure prompt payment of past due invoices and executes timely resolution of disputed items to maintain A/R in current status. You will be regularly communicating in French and English both orally and in writing. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Review customer accounts assigned to you and follow up to ensure customer accounts are kept current.
  • Utilizing various collection tools such as Aging Reports and Getpaid, contact past due customers by fax or call according to the service level agreements (SLA) commitments
  • Working closely with Customer and Sales, ensure all disputed items are resolved in a timely manner 
  • Adherence to policies and procedures pertaining to credit, collections, reconciliation and reporting
  • Maintain up to date records of customer contact information in Getpaid and keep detailed notes of any correspondence between internal and external customers
  • Research and submit appropriate adjustment request form to Order to Cash (O2C) Application to clear corresponding credit and debits
  • Notify customers of outstanding unapplied cash or credit memos and submit payment request form if required
  • Maintain, review and adjust credit limit exposure and notify Credit Sr. Specialist and Credit Managers of over extended credit limits for review
  • Advise / raise awareness of potential delinquent accounts to Sr. Credit Specialist, Credit Managers and/or Sales to request assistance or recommend next course of action, such as legal, 3rd party collections, liens etc…
  • Respond to customer inquiries concerning account reconciliation issues and provide all backup as requested
  • Gathering and assessing various credit reports and trade references to determine credit worthiness of new or existing credit customers, and provide recommendations to
  • Sr. Credit Specialist or Team Lead
  • Contribute to the ongoing mandate of process improvements within Credit and other areas to enhance efficiency, communication of information and reduce potential exposures.

Qualifications: 

  • Bilingual (English and French) written and oral is mandatory
  • 2-4 years experience in credit and collection related function
  • Proficient in using SAP would be a definite asset
  • Able to assess and promptly resolve problems while meeting deadlines and prioritizing work
  • Able to demonstrate flexibility with job duties and scope of work in a cooperative environment
  • Apply common sense understanding and problem-solving skills to complete activities.
  • Skilled in Collections, Customer Service, including analyzing customer needs through soliciting, evaluating and acting upon customer feedback
  • Proficiency in Excel and office productivity tools (MS Office, Lotus Notes, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Post-Secondary degree in business or related field preferred
  • Previous exposure to various credit reports required (Equifax, Lumbermen’s & DnB, etc.)
  • Manufacturing industry or shared services experience beneficial
