Our client is currently is looking to immediately hire a senior translator/proofreader for its downtown Toronto location. Working in a collaborative team, our client needs a professional who is comfortable in dealing with external vendors, communicating clearly and smoothly in both English and French and having the skills to properly interpret the nuances for our client’s francophone clients.
The Translation Department is an integral part of the Marketing and Products Department and works closely with all of its members. This small dynamic team is responsible for ensuring the quality of all French material for investment advisors, investors and the company’s website.
The senior translator/proofreader is responsible for the accurate and timely translation of various internal documents with different degrees of technical difficulty, but generally of a financial nature. He/she also contributes to the company terminology data bank and uses translation software as part of their work.
Responsibilities:
- Translation of various documents such as newsletters, presentations, correspondence, internal and external communications, etc., within the required deadlines. These documents can touch a number of areas, including finance, retirement services and financial products marketing
- Proofreading of internal and external translations to ensure quality and consistency
- Appropriate terminology research and maintaining of a specialized terminology bank
- Proofreading, correction and approval of various documents in layout version
- Provide ongoing support to the translation manager in various large projects
- Ensure the quality of all French materials and communications
Qualifications:
- Translation degree or equivalent job experience (English/Français)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in translation in the mutual fund or financial services industries
- Experience in the financial services industry is considered a strong asset
- Being able to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to multitask and deal with changing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to work under pressure
- Excellent research capability
- Organizational skills and detail-oriented
- Computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office with Word and PowerPoint
