Our client, a global leader in the building materials sector, is currently seeking to immediately fill a Bilingual Total Compensation Representative position. This is a great opportunity for an experienced benefits and compensation representative to join a dynamic and growing multinational company in a diverse and stimulating position.
The Bilingual Total Compensation Representative acts as the link between the company’s corporate Human Resources department and regional service centers in Canada and the U.S. You’ll be asked to use your strong problem solving skills to interpret questions in sometimes ambiguous situations and work independently and professionally. You will be regularly communicating in French and English both orally and in writing, acting as a resource for your colleagues across North America.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the annual compensation planning cycle, including salary increases and bonus payments.
- Coordinates the administration of the benefits programs.
- Assists in the development and evaluation of benefits policies.
- Interacts with third-party vendors, including consultants, insurance carriers, and attorneys. Responds to data requests. Works with vendors to ensure completion of annual filings and required plan testing.
- Serves as an internal resource within Human Resources. Resolves issues by communicating with the Human Resources Service Centers and HR Managers.
- Coordinates annual benefit program activities, including the preparation of pension statements, benefits audit, contract quotes and renewals, and any changes related to benefits in the collective bargaining agreements.
- Benchmarks company’s compensation and benefit programs to market by completing surveys, comparing company’s compensation and benefits to market, and shares findings.
- Prepares analyses and reports for other team members and management to enable decision-making.
- Oversees the content of the company’s Intranet related to total compensation programs to facilitate effective communication.
- Administers the annual budgeting process for all employee-related compensation and benefit expenses and serves as system administrator of employee budgeting database. Tracks actual expenses against budget by preparing analysis and reports. Works closely with Finance and North American Business Services to ensure the alignment of cost elements.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Solid written and verbal communication skills, both in French and English.
- 5 or more years of experience in Compensation or Benefits
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
- CEBS, CCP, or CBP designations
- Sound knowledge of employment legislation and of compensation and benefit practices and principles for Canada and U.S.
- Basic knowledge of payroll processing and HRIS (SAP experience a plus).
